Beim Schneiden der Krallen musst du darauf achten, nicht zu viel abzuschneiden. Ansonsten triffst du einen Nerv, welcher in den Krallen verläuft. Wenn du dir ein Kaninchen holst, lass dir beim ersten Mal von einem Tierarzt, erfahrenen Besitzer oder Züchter zeigen wie das richtig funktioniert.

Zum Schneiden der Krallen benötigst du natürlich die geeignete Ausrüstung. Eine Krallenschere ist genau das richtige Werkzeug dafür.

So hältst du dein Kaninchen beim Schneiden

Die richtige Griff-Technik hilft dabei Verletzungen zu vermeiden und dein Tier weniger zu stressen. Nimm also dein Kaninchen auf deinen Schoß und finde eine geeignete Position. Zwischen deinen Oberschenkeln sollte es eine ruhige Position haben. Ansonsten kannst du dein Kaninchen mit dem Rücken an deinen Bauch anlehnen. So als würdest du ein Baby auf dem Schoß haben.

Eine Möglichkeit das Kaninchen zu beruhigen ist es ein Tuch über das ganze Tier zu legen. Bis über die Augen. So beruhigt es sich schneller.

Wie viel sollte ich abschneiden?

Kaninchen mit hellen Krallen ist es leichter diese zu schneiden. Bei hellen Krallen ist der Nerv, leicht an der Rosa-Färbung zu erkennen. Bei Kaninchen mit dunklen Krallen ist es etwas schwieriger. Entweder du orientierst dich an einem Kaninchen mit hellen Krallen oder du versuchst es mit einer Taschenlampe.

Diese hältst du unter die Kralle und schaust, dann ob du die Nerven siehst.

Alternativ gehst du zu einem erfahrenen befreundeten Halter oder zum Tierarzt. Für wenig Geld erledigt der Arzt das.

Die Krallen sollten regelmäßig geschnitten werden, ansonsten kann der Nerv länger werden. Dann musst du die Krallen Stück für Stück kürzen und nicht komplett auf einmal. Wenn die Nerven länger geworden sind, brauchst du keine Angst haben. Kürze die Krallen dann wieder regelmäßig und die Nerven bilden sich dann wieder zurück.

Dann seid ihr beide, du und dein Kaninchen, wieder ruhiger und ihr könnt einen neuen Anlauf starten.
